THE WEDDING WEEKEND

On our first date, we were offered another bottle of wine. Did we need it? No. Definitively not. But we had it anyway. We're greedy people. And hence we want a full weekend of merriment and celebration with our favourite people.

OTHER INFO - GIFTS
Your presence is present enough, especially as you're coming all the way to Mallorca.

However, we know that some of you would like to give us a gift, which we hugely appreciate.

If you do want to, we'd be very grateful if you could choose from these options:

A donation to Camfed: An unbelievable charity that educates girls and empowers businesswomen in rural communities in sub-saharan Africa. any money you can give at all will have a huge impact.

John Lewis Vouchers: We're moving house in the not-too-distant future, so any vouchers would be fantastic to help set us up as we don't know what we need yet.

LOCATION: Son Penyaflor, Alaro, Mallorca, the Med.

THE FINCA
We're getting married at Son Penyaflor, a beautiful 13th Century Finca in the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana (Mallorca's Mount Tibidabo...), overlooking the central Es Pla. It's bloody stonking - all trees, flowers, arches, shady nooks and cobbles - so ladies - beware of high heels (and Laura's brother Neil).

Part of its stonking-ocity is that it is a little out in the country, lying just outside the small town of Alaro.  Parking will be available in the fields behind the Finca. Cows and local sheep are not expected to cause much trouble, so cars can be left overnight and picked up the next day. Or whenever your alcohol level returns to normal.

THE TOWN
Alaro is just off the PM-27 motorway, before you reach Inca (if you're driving from Palma). It's a very quaint market town, famous for being the first on the island for having electricity. Little has changed since, with lots of local restaurants, wine bars and its Castell d'Alaro (which is known as being one of the 'classic excursions' on the island... thank you Wikipedia).

TRANSPORT ON THE DAY
We're going to organise transport to do shuttle runs from the venue from 11.30pm to take you back to your hotels, villas and tents in Alaro until 3am.

For all other trips, or if you peak too early, there is a local taxi firm run by Andres, who speaks decent English:

And follow this map to our villa, for the drinks on Friday night and get together on Sunday:

ACCOMMODATION

There are some gorgeous little hotels, fincas, villas and shaded areas under trees for you to stay. The below is just a little selection... we obviously haven't stayed at any of them so if they're crap, it's not our fault. But they look pretty darn good to us - so hopefully you can find something.

A quick note for people who want to share:
The villas in the area are amazing and much cheaper per head. If you'd like to share with some others, let us know (the contact link to the right) and we'll put you in touch so that you can organise some co-habitation.

HOTELS IN ALARO & SURROUNDING AREA

Finca Hotel Son Palou - http://www.sonpalou.com/?idioma=en

Hotel Rural Stil S'Olivaret - http://www.solivaret.com/en/hotel

This is not an exhaustive list - have a google to find some more options!

VILLAS
The below links lead you to some of the miraculous villas around the town, especially for those looking to stay longer. Some might be willing to do shorter periods, so get in touch - it seems to be a much cheaper option.

Disclaimer:
We've only put this up once, so sorry if prices and availability change. We met online - we know how it feels.

TRAVEL AND TRANSPORT

FLIGHTS TO MALLORCA (from the UK)
The closest airport on Mallorca (Majorca is the English spelling) is Palma (PMI). Make sure you don't do what one of us (will remain nameless) did and book to go to Parma, which is in Italy.

Best to search your dates via a search engine such as Sky Scanner

Airlines that fly direct to Palma from the UK include:
Easyjet - http://www.easyjet.com/en
Ryan Air - http://www.ryanair.com/en (you might as well just catapult yourself in a bathtub)

From Palma Airport it is a short and easy drive to Alaro on the main motorway, directly from the airport.

CAR HIRE
Deals are constantly changing so best to go on a search for the best options and prices.  Read the small print carefully, some companies charge you for a full tank of petrol on return at their own set rate so if you’re not going to be doing much driving this can make it expensive, though their hire prices are much cheaper.

TAXIS
There is a local taxi firm run by Andres, who speaks decent English:
